WHAT YOU WILL GET

The world needs people who create things. How many times have you heard this? The world belongs to creators, to those that know how to solve problems and create solutions.

Teaching in a connected classroom is more than about teaching with the Internet or with computers. It is about unleashing the power of creativity in students today. There are many ways to create things, and creating things is half the process. The other half is sharing your creations with a real audience that cares, an audience that can give you feedback on your creation and help you improve it. Whether your creation is a piece of writing, a painting, a recipe or a video, there is a place for students to share their creations with an audience that goes beyond the classroom. That is the true power of the connected classroom and will be the focus of this two-day workshop; learning how a connected classroom can engage your students.

OUTCOMES FROM THIS WORKSHOP:

  • Participants will understand how teaching search skills to students changes the questions we ask in the classroom.
  • Participants will learn to utilize videos, images, and media to engage students and think differently about projects.
  • Participants will explore a host of connected tools that turn students into creators not just consumers.
  • Participants will learn how blogs used as e-portfolios can be a powerful learning and reflection tool across the grade levels.
